Zimbabwe: Breaking News - Mugabe Quits

President Robert Mugabe has finally heeded calls to resign, AllAfrica's news partners in Zimbabwe report.

News of the resignation broke as Parliament was debating a ruling party proposal to impeach him.

"Speaker Jacob Mudenda announced Mugabe's resignation," The Source reported.

Within minutes, thousands of Zimbabweans were flooding onto the streets to celebrate, Traffic came to a standstill and the defeaning sounds of car hooters filled Harare.
