Kenya: Koome Mourns Uganda's Supreme Court Judge Arach as a Leading Voice for Collegiality

Nairobi — Chief Justice Martha Koome has mourned Uganda's Supreme Court Judge Stella Arach as a spirited advocate of collegiality and judicial cooperation in the region.

In a condolence note relayed by her office on Monday, Koome described Justice Arach who passed away on Saturday as a passionate member of the East African Magistrates' and Judges' Association.

"She forged bonds of professional unity and collaboration that have greatly enriched our region's judicial fraternity," CJ Koome remarked.

Koome further described the departed judge as a remarkable jurist who will be remembered for her achievements and persistent contribution to the Judiciary of Uganda and the entire East African region.

She praised the late judge for her dedication which the CJ noted inspired and opened the way for numerous female lawyers all around the region.

Koome said Arach's tenure was marked by her commitment to champion increased presence of women the region's judiciaries in order to make judicial institutions inclusive and more representatives of the societies they serve.

She concluded by extending her heartfelt condolences to the family of Justice Arach, her Ugandan counterpart, the entire Ugandan Judiciary and the citizens of Uganda.
