Kenya: Opposition Criticises State of Nation Address

Opposition members of parliament say President Uhuru Kenyatta did not address challenges such as ethnicity, corruption and lack of accountability during his State of the Nation address.

President Kenyatta said it was regrettable that the focus of county governments appeared to be on, “palaces” and “fleets of vehicles” rather than on uplifting the condition of their constituents.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro leave the National Assembly on March 26, 2015, after the State of the Nation address.
