No Lights, No Bobi Wine Songs at Zimbabwe Opposition Rally

Zimbabwe's main opposition's congress was hit by several hitches this weekend. The main speaker, Ugandan MP and musician Bobi Wine, told the congress on Saturday that he had been forced by Zimbabwean authorities to agree not to sing at the event. And late on Sunday, the party had to stop its voting process at the Ascot Stadium after the facility was plunged into darkness.

The MDC resorted to car headlights when an unexpected power cut threatened to throw the party’s election process into disarray at Ascot Stadium in Gweru, late on Sunday evening.
