Nigerian Forces Open Fire on #FreeSowore Protesters

Dozens of protesters gathered in Lagos to demand the release of activist Omoyele Sowore who has been detained since August. The protesters were reportedly fired on an pepper sprayed by state security operatives. A Nigerian court ordered Sowore's release but authorities have not complied. Sowore, a journalist and founder of New York-based website Sahara Reporters, has been in custody for more than three months, following accusations of treason and "cyberstalking" President Muhammadu Buhari.

Omoyele Sowore, an activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, was the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the last general election.
