Jumia, based in Lagos, is an e-commerce retail platform which offers a logistics service that enables the shipment and delivery of packages from sellers to consumers. It also has a payment service, which facilitates transactions among participants in selected markets. A downturn in earnings has seen the firm close its operations in Rwanda, Cameroon and Tanzania and now Kenya has sent about 6% of its employees home.
