COVID-19 and Water Shortages in Zimbabwe - Crisis Within A Crisis

Zimbabweans have been for years scrambling to get enough clean water to drink, prepare meals and attend to basic hygiene and are now concerned over what impact the ongoing water crisis will have on their ability to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The need for good hygiene like handwashing is key to protecting public health and responding to the virus. The World Health Organization has emphasized this, noting that the provision of safe water, sanitation, and hygienic conditions is essential to protecting health during the COVID-19 outbreak.
