South Africa's Ramaphosa Wins Second Term as Ruling Party Leader

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has survived a political firestorm around the sale of cattle at his farm and increasing anger and frustration over the government's inability to deal with the country's power crisis, to secure a second term at the head of the ruling African National Congress.

His victory means he now has a clear path to winning another term as the country's president in 2024.

The party's national elective conference saw Deputy President David Mabuza, who withdrew from the election race, being replaced by Paul Mashatile.
