Godswill Akpabio Elected 10th Nigerian Senate President

All Progressives Congress' Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has been elected as the president of the 10th Senate. He won the election with 63 votes, defeating Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, who received 46 votes.

The voting took place in the Senate and was overseen by the Clerk of the Senate. Following his victory, Akpabio was immediately sworn in.

Barau Jibrin, a APC Senator representing Kano North, was elected as the deputy senate president, running unopposed.
