Tunisia's Ons Jabeur Loses Wimbledon Women's Singles Final Match

Ons Jabeur has lost the opportunity to become the first African and Arab woman to win a Grand Slam singles title at the Wimbledon women's singles after losing to unseeded Czech Marketa Vondrousova on July 15, 2023.

Sixth seed Jabeur, 28, has now lost all three major finals she has played in.

She had staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus and secure a place in the Wimbledon women's singles final for a second consecutive year.

Having reached the French Open final in 2019 on clay, she has struggled to replicate that success until now.

Meanwhile, Vondrousova's journey has been marked by two wrist surgeries and a six-month absence from the sport in 2022. Reflecting on her unexpected progress, she expressed gratitude for being healthy and able to compete again.
