South Africa Bow Out of Men's Cricket World Cup

South Africa crumbled under the pressure with the bat but fought resiliently with the ball in what was a bittersweet conclusion to their hard-fought ICC Men's Cricket World Cup campaign, writes Razeen Gutta for Scrolla.

The Proteas lost their semi-final match against Australia on November 16, 2023.

The one-day international tournament is taking place in India. A long group stage began on October 5 with the final being held in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023.

South Africa is the only African cricket team to qualify for the tournament.

The ten participating teams qualified through the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. India qualified as hosts; Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa qualified via the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, with the Netherlands and Sri Lanka securing the final two places via the qualifier tournament that took place in Zimbabwe during June and July 2023. The West Indies missed out on qualification for the first time in their history.

Australia beat India in the final.
