Ecowas Bowing to 'Blackmail' by Lifting Niger Sanctions?

An announcement is expected to be made before the commencement of the month of Ramadan in March, reports allAfrica's Bamba Moussa. The gesture is said to be ''an outstretched hand'' to prevent Niger's departure from Ecowas. Tensions have been rising between the military juntas in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger on the one hand, and West Africa's civilian regimes on the other, with the military leaders threatening to end their countries' membership with the regional bloc.
