Nigeria's Tems and South Africa's Kellerman Score Grammy Wins

Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has won the 67th Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance. Tems emerged victorious in a fierce competition, beating fellow countrymen Burna Boy, Asake, Wizkid and Yemi Alade, and Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay. 

South African singer Tyla won the first Best African Music Performance award last year with the global hit, Water.

South Africa's Wouter Kellerman, along with Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto and Indian vocalist Chandrika Tandon, won the Grammy for their album Triveni in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category. This is Kellerman's third Grammy award. He won Best New Age Album in 2015, and Best Global Music Performance in 2023 with Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode. He has had five other nominations.
