The Nigerian army says 30 militants were killed in an airstrike it carried out on Monday in the northwestern state of Zamfara. The army said the attack, which was "conducted based on credible intelligence", struck a large gathering of alleged terrorists gathered for a wedding.

An army statement said the air attack was followed by a raid by troops on the ground, which "brought relief to communities plagued by repeated terrorist attacks".
