Militants No Longer Occupy Major Towns in Mozambique, Chapo Says

President Daniel Chapo has announced that Mozambique's security forces and regional allies have made significant advances in the fight agains insurgents, reclaiming territories previously held by militants. He said militant groups are now constantly on the move due to sustained pressure from security forces, saying no kidnappings have been confirmed in the last six months.

Speaking at a gathering of the National Council of the Mozambique Youth Organisation (OJM) - the ruling Frelimo Party's youth wing - the President also urged the responsible use of social media. He warned against the growing risks of disinformation and digital manipulation.
