Fake Mobile Phone Owners Get Reprieve

Mobile telephone users who were nervous about having their devices switched off from the 1st of September can now breathe a sigh of relief. The Communications Commission of Kenya has said it will convene a consultative meeting with the four mobile telecommunications firms, relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to see the way forward in curbing the counterfeit phone menace in the country. However, even as the CCK postpones the decision, questions still arise as to why consumers were asked to bear the brunt of the government's negligence.
