Kenyan Legislator Opposes Tax Increase

Mathira Legislator Ephraim Maina, has opposed a plan by Treasury to increase taxes in order to cater for the salary hikes for teachers and doctors. The MP called on the government to ensure that the prices of basic commodities will not be affected by the planned increase in taxes. He also added that he would table a motion in Parliament to cap taxation especially on basic commodities if the government does not take action.
