High Court Stops Sacking of Kenya's Top Judges

The High Court has stopped the sacking of five senior judges who had been declared unfit to continue serving in the Judiciary by the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board, at least until their petitions are heard and determined. The five-judge bench, however, gave the Sharad Rao-led board the go-ahead to continue its purge of judicial officers, but noted that the High Court would have jurisdiction to intervene if the board is deemed to have exceeded its constitutional mandate.
