Africa: Russian Coach Apologises for Racist Comments - Report

5 November 2014

FC Rostov's coach, Igor Gamula, has reportedly apologised for racist comments he made about “dark-skinned” players in his team.

BBC earlier reported that the Russian team's African players - South African Siyanda Xulu, Gabon's Guélor Kanga Kaku, Moussa Doumbia from Mali, and Ivorian Igor Alexandre Lolo - want their coach fired for his comments.

Gamula told Russian media the club had “enough dark-skinned players, we’ve got six of the things” - and joked that Ebola had spread to the club, according to The Independent.
