A new dimension to the challenges facing the north of Nigeria. I wonder why telecoms base station will now become targets for attack? do the perpetrators want to isolate the north from the rest of Nigeria and the World? Base stations have become very important national assets irrespective of the operator/owner and the Government and people must rise up and protect them. But how can a Nigerian in Borno protect a base station when he is not sure of his life? No doubt, this bombing of telecoms base station will negatively impact on the security situation and economic activities in the north and therefore a call for urgent action that restores peace to the Region.

These attacks represent a serious threat to the federal government’s control over the country. It is obvious to me that Boko Haram’s attacks are really intended to intimidate ordinary Nigerians. Innocent civilians can now appreciate the group’s presence and influence over every day life in Nigeria. Because of the group’s stated objectives I do not believe that there can be any negotiated resolution of the conflict. It should be obvious to the country’s leaders that Boko Haram will not be content with annexing the northern part of the country. The government must dedicate the reasons and personnel to deal decisively with the terrorist group.
