AfDB Empowering African Women through Networking and Agriculture

On 15th of July 2016, the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved USD 12.4 million grant for an innovative social media networking platform called "50 million Women Speak," which will enable women to start, grow and scale their business through the dynamic exchange of ideas. To further empower women to transform agriculture, AfDB president Akinwumi Adesina, on July 16, observed that "we must recognize the critical role women play in agriculture in Africa" He made the remarks at a high level meeting held at the sidelines of the 27th African Union Summit, 17 July to 18 July, in Kigali, Rwanda.
