198 Million Nigerians Make Country Seventh Largest in World

The National Population Commission has put Nigeria's population at 198 million people with urban population growing at an average annual rate of about 6.5 percent. Nigeria is now projected to become the third most-populated country in the world in the next 30 years. The last census was conducted in 2006, when Nigeria had an estimated 186 million people.
