In Zimbabwe, Tensions Rise Ahead of Planned Anti-Govt Protest

Planned anti-government protests on July 31 are reported to have spread panic in President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government, which is contemplating re-introducing a tough COVID-19 lockdown in Harare and Bulawayo to stop all gatherings. Deputy Defence Minister Victor Matemadanda accused the opposition of receiving funds from western embassies to foment chaos.
