Kagame Promises Solution to Excessive Force By Rwandan Police

President Paul Kagame has said that he has instructed the leadership of the police that any officers found to have engaged in excesses use of force will be held accountable. The Minister of Justice Johnston Busingye has also condemned the use of excessive and at times deadly force by some police personnel while on duty, saying this is not part of the operational guidelines of Rwanda National Police. In recent months, there have been incidents where police have been seen to have used unnecessarily excessive force in some instances, with some resulting in the death of detainees.
