Hope Fades for Dozens of Trapped Miners in Zimbabwe

The government is working on recovering scores of artisanal miners trapped underground in different mines dotted across the country, the mines minister, Winston Chitando has said. President Emmerson Mnangagwa and two of his ministers have already been taken to court - by a parent of a gold miner - for failing to share information regarding the status of the miners. The minister said the Mnangagwa-led government was mobilising necessary equipment to retrieve bodies in Esigodini, Matabeleland South, Chegutu, Mashonaland West, Bindura, Mashonaland Central where the artisanal miners, who are presumed dead, are still trapped underground after the shafts they were working in, collapsed.
