Tunisia Takes Crown as African Men's Volleyball Champs

Tunisia's Eagles of Carthage beat Cameroon 3-1 to take the men's African Volleyball Championship crown at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda on September 15, 2021.

Tunisia is now placed 15th in the International Federation of Volleyball rankings and is the top ranked volleyball nation in Africa and the Arab world.

Kigali is the first city in the East African region to ever host the continental tournament and the second to host the same tournament for women since Kenya in 2015. This is the fifth time that the championship has been held in the sub-Saharan countries after Code d'Ivoire (1989), Nigeria (2001 and 1997), and South Africa (2007).

Sixteen national teams participated in the continental tournament.

Tunisia, the defending champions, are holders of the 11th men's African Volleyball Championship crown. They are the most decorated team in Africa, having won in 2021, 2019, 2017, 2003, 1999, 1997, 1995, 1987, 1979, 1971 and 1967.
