Southern Africa Braces For Another Cyclone After Devastating Ana

Just after Tropical Cyclone Ana left a trail of destruction, Southern Africa is bracing for yet another devastating tropical cyclone.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs's latest flash update (dated February 2, 2022) says Tropical Cyclone Batsirai has brought wind and rain to Mauritius, while Reunion has been on orange alert since 6am on February 2. The update says Batsirai is expected to make landfall on the east coast of Madagascar around February 5, 2022.

Tropical Storm Ana caused widespread destruction and triggered flooding across southeast Africa. Fatalities were reported in several countries including Mozambique, Malawi and Uganda.
