African Giants Battle it Out for World Cup 2026 Berths!

The road to the 2026 World Cup is intense, with surprising leaders emerging across the African qualifying groups.

Egypt maintained their perfect run thanks to Mohamed Salah's late equalizer against Guinea-Bissau to top Group A. In a shock result, war-torn Sudan leapfrogged Senegal to claim first place in Group B. Group C saw a three-way tie between South Africa, Rwanda, and Benin after victories, while Nigeria's hopes took a major hit with a 2-1 defeat to Benin, leaving them adrift of the leaders.

Angola held Cameroon to split points but Morocco extended their Group E lead by thrashing Congo. Burundi's big win over Seychelles propelled them into contention in Group F as Gabon stayed hot on the heels of Cote d'Ivoire at the top.

Pure emotion from Marcel Dandjinou as Benin beat Nigeria for the first time ever!
