Tragic Death of Chimamanda Adichie's Son Sets Off Controversy

The internationally renowned award-winning author, Chimamanda Adichie, has told friends that the death of one of her 21-month-old twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi, was a result of critical failures during medical care in a Lagos private hospital. 

Ms Adichie stated that the medical procedures which her son was undergoing ought to have been routine, and that his death was avoidable. The hospital has announced that it has launched an investigation

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu commiserated with Ms Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, describing the loss as a devastating tragedy. 

Chimamanda Adichie is known for her previous award-winning novels like "Americanah" and "Half of a Yellow Sun". The news of Nkanu Nnamdi's death set off an outpouring of sympathy from writers, academics, and admirers across Africa, Europe, and North America.
