Dozens of Liberians Named on U.S. ‘Worst-of-the-Worst’ List

More than 40 Liberians in the U.S. have been placed on a "worst of the worst" criminal list by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), as President Donald Trump's administration intensifies its crackdown on illegal immigration. This move follows the recent suspension of immigrant visa processing for nationals from 74 countries, including Liberia.

The reported offenses include armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and drug-related crimes, as well as Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and other serious violations.

This framing has sparked concern among Liberian advocates who fear the "worst of the worst" label will stigmatize a community that has resided in the U.S. for decades and contributed significantly to the American society, particularly in healthcare, education, and public service.
