It is almost 17 years since environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, from the Niger River Delta in Nigeria, was executed. Today, the land in the region is still being polluted by oil spills. And the people still feel short-changed by large international firms and various governments that fundamentally don’t care about them. But, on 11 October a court case begins in The Hague. A Dutch legal expert tells us why this case is unique.
