The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) has given the government a seven-day ultimatum to allow the registration of a police union.

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli said it is only through a union that junior police officers will push for better working conditions.

Atwoli said that the government must take a quick action to ensure that police officers' union was registered.

Atwoli said that it was unacceptable for the police officers to die from causes that can be prevented since they cannot demand for better working conditions through their union.
