Cameroon - Team Overview

17 June 2010

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon competed in their first World Cup finals in 1982, becoming the fourth African country to do so after Morocco, Tunisia and the DR Congo (then Zaire).

Of the African teams headed to South Africa, Cameroon is the only one to have reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup, in a fabled 1990 outing in Italy.

Some would argue that the Lions' roar isn't what it used to be, but the Cameroonians rank as the second African nation (after Egypt) in FIFA's world rankings.

They head for South Africa with the most World Cup experience of any African team, having been to soccer's grand stage five times.

Previous FIFA World Cup Appearances:

1982, first round; 1990, quarterfinals; 1994, first round; 1998, first round; 2002, first round.
