Ghana have a tough choice to make with their team selection for Wednesday's decisive Group D match against Guinea in Franceville. They now have players surplus to requirements, leaving coach Goran Stevanovic with a pleasing selection headache.

Both central defenders John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah return for the game in which Ghana need only draw to ensure top place in the group and stay in Franceville.

Vorsah has not yet played at the finals in Gabon because he had a two-match suspension carried over from the qualifying competition. Mensah was red-carded in Ghana's opening win over Botswana and missed the 2-0 triumph over Mali at the weekend.

In place of both, John Boye emerged as a new star for the Ghanaians. Now comes a difficult decision for the coach as he ponders the back line to defend against Guinea.

"We've had discussions on this (return of John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah and the form of John Boye). The most important thing is having a quality team. All your 23 players should be of good quality. As to who starts and who comes on, it's immaterial," insisted Ghana's assistant coach Kwesi Appiah.

Guinea must win the game and with their pacey attack are expected to go at the Black Stars.

Anything but a win will send Guinea packing, even after they equalled the Nations Cup record for the biggest win in the finals history by beating Botswana 6-1 on Saturday night.

Guinea coach Michael Dussuyer said: "Against Ghana it will be like a final."

Guinea have impressed with their young players at the tournament, notably Sadio Diallo, Adoul Razzagui Camara and Ismael Traore. It is a team with a bright future but the draw handed them a tough group and they have a huge task ahead after losing their opening game, somewhat unfortunately, to Mali.

Nevertheless Ghana will be mindful that the Syli Nationale have the ammunition to create a shock and an intriguing battle is in the offing at Franceville's impressive new stadium.
