University of Nairobi has been closed indefinitely and students ordered to vacate halls of residence by Tuesday 9am. Read more »
Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Mbithi says the decision was made by the university senate "following the deteriorating security situation." This comes after chaotic protests by students demonstrating against the arrest of former student leader, Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was arrested and faced various charges including subversion and "insulting President Kenyatta".
Students head home after the University of Nairobi was closed.
