For First Time Ever, Nigeria's Elections Boss Reappointed

President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Mahmood Yakubu as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for a second term in office. Yakubu was first appointed by Buhari in November 2015. He is the first chairman of the commission to be nominated twice. While many of the elections he supervised have been criticised by local and international observers for inadequacies, he has been commended for the recent governor elections in Edo and Ondo States.
