Bushiris Lose Expensive South Africa Home After Jumping Bail

Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary, who fled to Malawi in contravention of their bail conditions in South Africa, have handed themselves over to police in Lilongwe. According to the spokesperson for the Bushiris' Enlightened Christian Gathering, Ephraim Nyondo: "This is part of Bushiri's mission to seek justice. As of now, there is no court in the world that has proven Bushiri guilty." As part of the couple's bail conditions in their fraud case, they were only allowed to travel within two South African provinces, Gauteng and North West, until the case was finalised. After fleeing South Africa, Bushiri made several demands that South Africa needed to meet in order for him to return. One of the demands being that their bail not be revoked. The couple was expected to appear in a Lilongwe court for a bail hearing on November 18. Local media reported that it was heard in chambers and the Bushiris were not present, but remain in custody. It is not known when they will be handed over to stand trial in South Africa.
