Nigeria's Supreme Court Dismisses Opposition Poll Challenge

The Supreme Court has thrown out both opposition challenges to President Bola Tinubu's election win.

The two main opposition candidates, Peoples Democratic Party's Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party's Peter Obi, had sought to reverse February's presidential election, alleging it was marred by irregularities.

The appellants had raised a number of issues, including the eligibility of Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, to stand for election; Tinubu's failure to secure 25% of valid votes cast in Abuja; The Independent National Electoral Commission's failure to electronically transmit polling unit results; and allegations of vote manipulation in favour of Tinubu.
