Civilians Killed, Injured in Renewed Airstrikes in Sudan
Renewed air strikes by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, killed five people and injured eight, bringing the total toll after two days of shelling to 39 dead and 20 injured.
The bombing also disrupted markets and brought the movement of the public within the city to a standstill. Nyala has been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since October 26, 2023, and has faced repeated airstrikes, resulting in hundreds of deaths.
MSF teams in three different parts of Sudan - Khartoum, North Darfur and South Darfur - treated thousands of war-wounded patients as the war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued without regard for civilian life.
Mohammed Ahmed Hassan, the head of the civil administration in South Darfur, condemned repeated aerial bombardments terrorizing civilians. Hassan has renewed his appeal to the international community to impose a no-fly zone in Darfur, especially over the city of Nyala.
