Deadly Drone Attacks as Two Years On, Sudan War is Spreading

The conflict reached a turning point in March when the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which had been on the backfoot since the war began in April 2023, retook the Presidential Palace along with much of the capital Khartoum.

But instead of using the advance to pursue peace with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the army appears to want to press on for total victory, while the RSF expands the war into new areas, the International Crisis Group reports.

Earlier, UN human rights chief Volker Türk expressed concerns over multiple reports of summary executions of alleged RSF collaborators in Khartoum. The UN official comments followed videos of executions shared on social media "apparently filmed in southern and eastern Khartoum".
