Shoe Hits Kenyan President Ruto During Rally

Kenya's President William Ruto was struck by a shoe hurled from the crowd as he addressed a public gathering in Kehancha, Migori County, during a three-day tour to launch and commission development projects in the region. The police have arrested three people and intensified investigations into what they treated as a serious security breach.

Some MPs have criticised the shoe-throwing, which has been described as a major security lapse.

The incident comes as concerns grow about the safety of public officials after the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Ong'ondo Were, allegedly by gunmen on a motorcycle.
