Liberian Opposition Want Special Prosecutor To Probe Capitol Fire

A coalition of opposition parties has called for a special prosecutor to be appointed to investigate allegations of witness tampering and "torture" in the investigation into the cause of the fire that gutted parts of the building that hosts the national legislature.

In a joint statement, the parties accused the Liberia National Police and the National Security Agency of coercing witnesses to implicate former speaker Fonati Koffa.

The fire in December 2024 was declared an act of arson by the police.
