President Boakai Firing Of Top Liberian Officials Stirs Anxiety

President Joseph Boakai's recent firing of senior government officials, including key political allies, has reportedly left other cabinet members and heads of agencies worried about their fate. On Monday, the president removed his long-time political ally and Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, followed by similar actions at the Liberia Airport Authority and the Ministry of Education.

The presidency has not offered any reason for Boakai's decision other than urging new appointees to serve with "integrity and diligence". This has left many to speculate whether the president is purging non-conformists or quietly reconfiguring his administration.
