Ruto Accuses Kenyan Opposition Leaders of 'Putting Up Puppets'

President William Ruto has accused members of the opposition of using proxies to stir up political confusion, insisting that his administration remains committed to ending tribalism, hatred, and discrimination. Speaking during a church service, Ruto said his opponents are sponsoring rivals to undermine his government as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election.

Ruto has previously accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of bankrolling opposition figures seeking to challenge his 2027 re-election bid. "They have seen that Kenya is increasingly uniting and achieving equality everywhere. That is why they are sponsoring people - putting up puppets, you know - to try and cause confusion," Ruto said.

Ruto said Kenya had made significant progress toward reopening the frontier before clashes erupted between Somalia’s Federal Government and regional state forces near the Kenyan border.
