South African Farmers Complain Over Wage Demands
The daily pay increase of R150 demanded by farmworkers have been described by their bosses as being to excessive, warning that many could lose their jobs if wages are hiked. Public hearings on a wage review are still ongoing.
Protesters in the main road of Swellendam demonstrate for better wages on Thursday, 15 November 2012 during widespread unrest among farm workers that started in De Doorns in the Western Cape and since spread to other towns in the area.
