Hostage Claims Complicate South African Minister Gordhan's Case
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has finally spoken about an alleged "hostage" incident at the South African Revenue Services' (SARS) headquarters. The reported hostage drama is related to an incident involving senior SARS employee, Vlok Symington,who was allegedly held against his will by National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) officials to answer questions around the fraud case againt the finance minister, former SARS commissioner Oupa Magashula and former deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay. The NPA's chief Shaun Abrahams is expected to make a decision on the future of the case against Gordan and his former colleagues "very soon".
