Namibia Ruling Party Congress Opens With Debates Over Directions
The Swapo party congress has begun under the theme 'unity, inclusivity and prosperity' with an address by President Hage Geingob calling on members to bury personal differences and work for Namibia's growth. Along with the policy debates, the Congress will include hard-fought leadership contests, with 11 senior leaders competing for top party positions. Geingob faces a chllange for the presidency.from a former prime minister, Nahas Angula, and from youth minister Jerry Ekandjo.
