'We Will Do More and Better' - Ramaphosa to South Africans

Cyril Ramaphosa has been sworn in for his second term as the country's president during a ceremony at the Union Buildings in Tshwane. Ramaphosa's inauguration will enable him to form his Cabinet after extensive consultations with the Government of National Unity (GNU) partners.

Ramaphosa used his inauguration speech to warn political parties criticizing the GNU to work together: " [The] people of South Africa have stressed that they are impatient with political bickering and the endless blame game among politicians and political parties. They want us to put their needs and aspirations first and they want us to work together for the sake of our country."

Meanwhile, the newly formed Umkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) didn't attend the presidential inauguration, saying it would be "like spitting on the graves of those who died for freedom".

President Cyril Ramaphosa was sworn in by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
