Zimbabwe Govt and Former Ally Geza in War of Words Over Shutdowns

Zimbabwe's political landscape is experiencing heightened tensions as former Zanu PF member Blessed 'Bombshell' Runesu Geza has called for a two-day national shutdown on April 22 and 23, 2025, to protest President Emmerson Mnangagwa's leadership.
Geza, who claims to have military backing in his campaign to remove the president, alleges that Mnangagwa's allies are trying to change the Constitution to extend the presidential term to 2030 without a referendum.
The police have announced "massive deployments" to ensure the "public is free to engage in all socio-economic activities".
