Lawmakers have moved to legalize the charcoal trade after it was revealed that illicit charcoal burning has reduced the country's forest cover.

Try a different source for charcoal: Your water hyacinth problem! It can be made into briquettes, burned in the new low-pollution stoves that produce charcoal as a byproduct. That charcoal may be used as further fuel, or as biochar soil conditioner. See it done in Bungoma! Salim Shaban will be glad to show you!
